about

This song was written in Varanasi in India on the banks of the Holy River Ganga at the Manikarnika Ghat, (the burning Ghat) where the pilgrims come to cremate the bodies of their deceased loved ones.
It is a meditation on, and a celebration of life's impermanence, reminding us of the precious and tenacious yet fragile and fleeting nature of this life.
It leaves us pondering the nature of existence and the greater reality that lies before all of this.

lyrics

So carry my body on down to the holy flames
you'll find me here in the now singing your name
my ashes will rise on the smoke from this fire
my spirit will fly on the wind
and as sure as the day follows night
I will rise again
You will rise again
We will rise again

so push as you will
try as you might
you cant turn away
so come fly your kite
watch the river flow away
watch the river flow away
come watch the river flow
and let it all go
watch the river flow away

Jaia ki Jai Ganga Ma ki Jai
Jaiai Ganga Ma ki Jai
Jaia ki Jaia Ganga Ma ki Jai
Jaiai Ganga Ma ki Jai
Uma Parvati Ma Ganga Ma ki Jai

Mother of all
thankyou for giving me life
Father eternal
the way the truth and the light
Mother of all
thankyou for giving us life
Father eternal
you bathe us in the light

it's a baby's first cry
it's the look in your eye
when there's nothing left to say

Jai ma

Jaia Ganga Ma ki jai Jaia Ganga Ma
Jaia Ganga Ma ki jai Jaia Ganga Ma
Jaia Jamuna ki jai Jaia Jamuna
Jaia Jamuna ki jai Jaia Jamuna
Jaia Ganga Ma ki jai Jaia Ganga Ma
Jaia Ganga Ma ki jai Jaia Ganga Ma
Jaia ki Jai Ganga Ma ki Jai
Jaiai Ganga Ma ki Jai
Jaia ki Jaia Ganga Ma ki Jai
Jaiai Ganga Ma ki Jai
Uma Parvati Ma Ganga Ma ki Jai
